From Jack Prelutsky's hilarious rhymes to Walt Whitman's stirring "I Hear America Singing," this Marcato Book is perfect for a kid who loves rhymes and lyrics.

Brought to the page by poetry expert Patrice Vecchione, Whisper and Shout delivers an amazing collection of poems, chosen because they're a delight to memorize.

Whether it's rock or rap, kids love memorizing words that have special meaning to them. This collection is sure to stick with the young ones in your house. Your kids will want to greet a hot meal on a freezing night with Lewis Carroll's tribute to "Beautiful Soup" or entertain friends with a silly limerick.

As Booklist writes, "Vecchione writes with simple eloquence about memorization and the joy of poetry... The best pieces are timeless."

Vecchione, the editor of Truth and Lies: An Anthology of Poems, has taught poetry and community workshops. Whatever the verse, whether it's William Shakespeare or Emily Dickinson, Vecchione's wise and witty collection will imprint classic poems on your child's memory for life. Great for reading aloud.
