Why do we tell stories? Whether to explain things that are mysterious or hard to understand, teach moral lessons, entertain one another on cold winter nights, or just make each other laugh, people have been telling stories for centuries. Learn the history of storytelling and books themselves, from campfire tales to clay tablets all the way to eBooks!

In the story “Do Not Drop,” a young girl finds a book with a clear cover that simply says, “Do not drop this book!” When she ignores its warning and drops it, a baby dragon appears! But will it stay for long? Find out in this engrossing story by Margaret Teall!

Then, it’s time to pay a visit to the theatre! Join Beatrice Black Bear as she photographs traditional theatre productions across Asia, learn the parts of a theatre, and follow Precious as she conquers her humiliation to play half of a donkey in the school play!

LADYBUG is full of fun recurring features! Identify the emotions in Click’s Cubby, make your own bunny theater in the takeout pages, explore the wide world of books with Ladybug, Muddle, and Thud, and watch Click and the Kids make their own books! This issue of LADYBUG is something to write home about!
